Copal Negro is an aromatic tree resin with deep roots in the spiritual and ceremonial traditions of Mexico and Mesoamerica. Our Copal Negro is sourced from Teyolia, a shop whose is rooted in the ancestral traditions of Anahuac. They are devoted to sharing ancestral ingredients and traditional ceremonial goods connected to the Indigenous peoples of Mexico.
Unlike an incense stick, Copal Negro is a raw resin. A small amount is placed over a lit charcoal disc, allowing it to slowly melt and release its dense, fragrant smoke. Its aroma is deeper and earthier than lighter copals ~like copal blanco ~ , making it a beautiful ally for moments where deeper grounding or purification is needed.
