Pure Drinking Cacao

$32.00

100% pure cacao, sourced from Esmeraldas, Ecuador and prepared by Samak Kakawa.

Our Pure Cacao comes to Seeds of Being through Diana E. Oviedo Rodriguez, an Ecuadorian chocolatier and cacao educator who works directly with cacao plantations in Esmeraldas, Ecuador. Through years of learning from cacao growers and guardians throughout South America, Diana founded Samak Kakawa, where she prepares cacao with intention, reverence, and respect for the people, land, and traditions surrounding it.

Born and raised in Ecuador, Diana’s relationship with cacao is also woven into a larger life of prayer and ceremonial practice. She is a vision quester, Sun Dancer, singer, and carries altars and teachings received through elders of the El Fuego de Itzachilatlan lineage. From her home, Killawasi, in Quito, she holds prayers, tends her greenhouse, and shares medicine within her community.

At Seeds of Being, we are grateful to offer her cacao while keeping its origin and the hands behind its preparation visible.

Cacao has been cultivated and held in relationship by Indigenous peoples of the Americas for generations, as food, medicine, offering, trade, and within sacred and communal life. Rather than labeling this cacao “ceremonial,” we simply offer it as pure cacao, honoring the plant itself and recognizing that the traditions surrounding cacao are diverse, living, and rooted in particular peoples and places.

Rich and naturally bitter, this cacao contains no added sugar, milk, fillers, or flavorings. Prepare it as a warm drink and allow it to accompany prayer, reflection, gathering, creativity, or simply your everyday nourishment.
